Frequently asked questions about our training:

Is this training in-person?

Yes, all aspects of the 10 week training are in-person. We meet for two full days (two weeks apart) and then weekly for sessions and process groups at our Broomfield office. This allows for an in-depth process for all participants as well as establishing a supportive community.

Does this training apply to other medicines such as MDMA, psilocybin or others?

Yes. Our model addresses working with the subconscious and the body to resolve the root causes of suffering. We use a psycholytic model with cannabis and ketamine in the training, but the same principles apply to any medicine that expresses our subconscious minds while accessing the body. Participants are often surprised by how powerful cannabis and ketamine can be when used in the appropriate setting with a relevant therapeutic model.

Will I be certified to practice ketamine and cannabis-assisted psychotherapy when I am done?

Frankly, there is no established certification process at this time for either of these therapies, including psilocybin-assisted therapy (with the exception of Oregon). In a sense, anyone claiming to offer certification is getting ahead of what is actually available.

We will provide a certificate of hours-completed for training requirements for licensing, however, our training is offered more to gain confidence, mastery and experience in the client’s seat. We have worked in this field for many years and have come to understand that the practitioner’s experience and personal transformation is what is most essential in understanding psychedelic medicines. Psychedelic therapy works in a space that is very different from traditional therapies.

That being said, MDMA therapy certification is available only through MAPS accredited trainings.

Who is invited to this training?

We welcome all practitioners and students working in the field of psychedelic healing, as well as adjacent professions. Our goal is to support our community as a whole. Psychedelic therapy is not just another modality but is a fundamentally different way of understanding our mental and emotional health. We need therapists, doctors, teachers, body workers, ceremonialists, everyone invested in this new paradigm to have access to a personal level of understanding, for our systems to change and for the true power of this new movement in health to have the most positive impact.

How does the payment plan work?

The payment plan for the 10 week training allows you to pay in installments over the course of the training. To enact the payment plan choose the the deposit payment associated with the cohort you plan to attend (Spring, Summer or Fall). When you register by paying the deposit, we will send you a separate invoice for the remaining balance. You can make partial payments by choosing to the option of paying an alternative amount. We ask that the training be paid in full by the last day of training.

We do not have the ability to offer discounts at this time as we try to keep our training costs as low as possible.

Will you be offering any non-local trainings in the future?

We are designing a retreat-style version of our training to offer to community groups outside of the Denver/Boulder area. It is important to us that each cohort has local members that can grow their knowledge together and support each other. If you would like to form a group locally and invite us to come and train you, let us know. We should have a system in place by the end of 2023 or sooner.

Do you supply the ketamine or cannabis for sessions?

No. We use a self administration model, where each participant is responsible for obtaining a ketamine prescription or purchasing their own cannabis. We have a relationship with a nurse practitioner and psychiatrists that support our training by prescribing for our participants. The fees for that appointment and prescription are separate from the fees for the training. If you complete the training and are a licensed psychotherapist or equivalent, they can act as prescribers for your clients as well. If you already have a prescription you are welcome to use that during the training. Please let us know if that is the case.

What is the time commitment for the training on a weekly basis?

We hold an all day training on the first Saturday of the training to introduce the model and prepare participants for their sessions. Then each week we meet one evening from 6-8pm to process the previous weeks experiences and dive deeply into the model using the group’s experiences. Each week participants will either witness or participate in a two-hour session. We will send a schedule to everyone prior to the first day which will have a variety of times each week to sign up. The sessions are held during the day and we ask that you arrange a ride home if you are scheduled as a participant.

Two weeks after the first all day training we hold another full day of training where we expand on the theoretical aspects. We do this to allow everyone to have an experience of the subconscious space accessed by psychedelics, making the theory much more understandable.

Also, in terms of time commitment, it’s important to take into account that you will be in a process focused on yourself for 10 weeks. It can be life altering, so it is best not to take the training if you are burning the candle at both ends. Though some have done this and found it doable, it doesn’t give you time for lengthy self reflection.

Can I miss a week if I have a vacation planned?

Yes. Most people need to miss a week over the 10-week period. The way we accommodate that is by scheduling make-up sessions the week prior or when they return. The evening process group can be attended (not ideal, but possible) over zoom, if someone is out of town and still wants to attend.

The training sessions are witnessed by others in the cohort. Is it expected that I will share vulnerable material?

No. We encourage everyone to show up in the way that feels right to them. Often the group is felt as a very supportive and safe environment and participants are inspired to take the opportunity to do a deep dive and clear a big piece of their work, but sometimes group members choose to experience things on a lighter level. We highly encourage everyone to follow their instincts as that is part of the healing process as well.

Do you offer any support post-training?

Yes, we offer several community-wide supports for those desiring to participate. We offer monthly group supervision. A few of our instructors offer individual supervision. We have a monthly group for coaches and guides that meets to discuss issues of working in the field while not being a therapist. Several other group options are being created by community members. Additionally, you will be invited to be listed on our website.

There are many trainings available. How is the Innate Path training different?

We focus on the therapeutic approach. Most trainings cover topics about psychedelic medicines and brain science which, though important, doesn’t address the complicated aspects of all that emerges in a psychedelic therapy session. For example, how do we complete a healing process when traumatic childhood memories emerge? What can we expect to happen and how do we support the most thorough healing? How do we work with relational dynamics that are highlighted during psychedelic use? How do we resolve rage, terror, ungroundedness, negative belief systems, etc? What do we do when a client triggers us? How do we most effectively work with our own process of healing?

Our model works directly with the subconscious and is a synthesis of somatic, psychodynamic, Buddhist science of mind, parts work, attachment/touch work and more. We use the space created by the psychedelic trip to gain access to our subconscious selves. It is therapy done during the medicine experience, not integrated afterward. Integration happens during the session as we resolve trauma, update programming, find profound safety, shake off layers of fear and come to understand ourselves on a whole new level.
